(MoneyHippo.com) – Vacation season is here, and many may be wondering how they can afford to set out on an adventure with the cost of everything seeming to skyrocket. Luckily, there are very affordable places within the US you can add to your vacation list. Here are some to consider.
- In the Northeast: First up is Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, rich in history with plenty of inexpensive places to visit. The area has a military park where you can see and learn about artifacts from the Civil War era. You can also visit the memorial where former President Abraham Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address. You can explore most things here for free.
- In the Southwest: Remember The Alamo? Consider traveling to San Antonio, Texas, where you can learn about the well-known battle, dine along the beautiful River Walk, visit the botanical gardens for cheap, and walk through the Japanese Tea Garden for free. The area also boasts Six Flags and SeaWorld if you want to splurge while visiting.
- Traveling West: If you’ve never seen the Grand Canyon in Arizona before, now is the time to find out what you’re missing. There is a low per car fee to explore the canyon spreading 18 miles wide and 1 mile deep. This national monument has a river 277 miles long, surrounded by layers of rock, and filled with hundreds of wild animals to observe.
Each location has reasonable flight fees for those coming from out of town and plenty to offer for free or at a low cost to visitors. Choose one or all three to start your summer adventure.
